Shubhra Sau
About me: I am Shubhra Sau age 24 years, and I live in Dumdum, Kolkata, but my home town is Digha, East Midnapore. I am a very casual and very very simple person. I am eagerly interested in Life science especially in Animal behavior and Evolutionary biology. My dream is to be a good researcher…I am just crazy about the big cats especially African cheetah, I just want to take at least one in my home and I wish to spend my life with it.

I have a fascination for camera and photography, so I just try to take perfect and good images. I  am a big fan of Jason Edward, one of the leading photographers of National Geographic. I also love cricket, in my childhood I played a lot of gully cricket and tournaments. I am little bit of interested in politics. I hate 3 persons very much, but can’t say their names. My dream is to meet two people, they are Sachin Tendulkar and Bayer Gryles. I also want to read the Indian Mythologies at some point of time in my life.

Why did I come to this lab? I have done my M.Sc. Dissertation on “Foraging behavior of Indian Cormorants”. And I just wanted to do further research on animal behavior, but I am not able to go outside the country due to some family problems. My teacher Pritha madam told me to contact Dr.Anindita Bhadra at IISER Kolkata because she is doing research on animal behaviour. Then I came here and talked with Anindita madam and she gave a proposal to join here as project fellow, and I have accepted that..

My aspiration is to complete my Ph.D. from this lab. In this lab all senior scholars are very helpful and also caring, and  I feel very much at home in this lab.

Gitanjali Katlam
About me: I have joined this lab in August 2014 as a visiting fellow. After having experience in occupancy and distribution studies of mammals and invertebrates through various projects in Wildlife Institute of India and IISER, I was interested to work on animal behaviour. My stay in the lab has given me opportunity to interact with the researchers as well as learn methods and understand behavioural aspects of fishes, ants and free ranging dogs roaming freely on the streets of India. With this experience on behaviour ecology, I would like to further study on behaviour ecology of large marine mammals in India. Apart from observing nature I also enjoy travelling, photography and painting.

BSc in Zoology, M.P.A.S.C. College, Panvel, University of Mumbai.
MSc in Zoology, with specialization in oceanography, Institute of Science, University of Mumbai
